Are you excited to learn how to read? My friends will grow deep foundational skills in the targeted concepts of print, rhyme recognition, completion and production, learning letter names and sounds and being able to isolate, blend and segment those sounds within 3 letter words. We'll also work to increase sight recognition of words we frequently use and learn to write the letters with appropriate formation. This group will focus heavily on the Orton Gillingham multi-sensory and repetitive approach to learning including activities like writing in sand, using play dough, picture sorts, building words with magnets and pounding the beats in syllables to develop strong phonemic awareness. We'll incorporate some fun letter craft activities and explore our new letters, sounds and familiar words through poetry, nursery rhymes, and picture books. This class will help students make sense of print around them and gain confidence as budding readers!

Mindfulness exercises can help youth feel better, reduce stress, address anxiety, and have a greater awareness of their body and mind.

Forest Bathing allows exposure to natural tree oils that can help lift depression, reduce anxiety and help build immunity.

So many of today’s youth struggle with anxiety and lack of focus. Today’s world can be difficult to manage. The overuse of electronic devices, gaming, social media, the nonstop news of violence, effects of post-Covid, the list goes on.

We will immerse ourselves in nature using our senses to take in our surroundings.

We will learn to live in the present moment, not worrying about the past or future.

We will learn how our bodies react to emotions.

We will learn self regulation tools.

We will learn coping strategies.

We will learn from the forest.
