Are you excited to learn how to read? My friends will grow deep foundational skills in the targeted concepts of print, rhyme recognition, completion and production, learning letter names and sounds and being able to isolate, blend and segment those sounds within 3 letter words. We'll also work to increase sight recognition of words we frequently use and learn to write the letters with appropriate formation. This group will focus heavily on the Orton Gillingham multi-sensory and repetitive approach to learning including activities like writing in sand, using play dough, picture sorts, building words with magnets and pounding the beats in syllables to develop strong phonemic awareness. We'll incorporate some fun letter craft activities and explore our new letters, sounds and familiar words through poetry, nursery rhymes, and picture books. This class will help students make sense of print around them and gain confidence as budding readers!

Would you love to have lunch out two days a week? We’ve got you! The Learning Habitat is adding a two- hour Tuesday/Thursday class for 3- and 4-year-olds. While you enjoy some “me” time, your little ones will have lunchtime and playtime with friends along with fun activities specifically designed for their development. They’ll be learning, but most of all, they’ll just be having fun! Students will participate inmovement through nursery rhymes and story time to develop foundational reading skills. They will gain understanding of concepts of print, counting the beats, and rhyme while seeing the connection thatletters make words and words make sentences. They’ll also practice counting, color names and lettername recognition. Puzzles, Play-Doh, lines and circles will help your child develop pre-writing fine motorskills. We’ll build vocabulary by playing games involving prepositions, ordering pictures and events and learning thematic vocabulary to name a few. Register quickly. Spots are limited and will fill up quickly.

*Children must be potty trained and able to feed themselves independently. Lunch is NOT provided.
